Centenary 2018 - The fifth edition of the Livia Maiorescu-Dymsza piano concert, 28 September, 2018, Ilzenberg, Lithuania

The Embassy of Romania, with the support of Rokiškis Municipality and of the businessman Vaidas Barakauskas, organized the fifth edition of the Livia Maiorescu-Dymsza Piano Concert on 28 September 2018. The concert was performed by the Romanian pianist Lia Popa, a graduate of the Vienna Conservatory, and by the Lithuanian pianist Darius Mažintas.

In the opening speech, the Ambassador of Romania spoke about the double significance of this year's concert, dedicated to both Livia Maiorescu-Dymsza's memory and to the centenary of the Great Union of Romania and the centenary of the restauration of the Lithuanian state. In the context, he talked about the life and activity of Livia Maiorescu - the daughter of the state and culture man Titu Maiorescu - married to the noble Polish-Lithuanian Eugeniusz Dymsza, who lived for many years at the Ilzenberg Manor near Rokiškis. He also talked about the Centenary of the Great Union, which Livia Maiorescu lived at Ilzenberg, and about its significance for contemporary Romania. The Ambassador also noticed it was the second year when the concert took place in the house where Livia Maiorescu lived, which was restored by the businessman Vaidas Barakauskas, expressing hope that this tradition will continue for a long time from now.

The concerts of the two pianists included famous pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, George Enescu, Frederic Chopin, Balys Dvarionas and M.K. Čiurlionis.

The event was attended by Lithuanian political figures, members of the Romanian community, art lovers, local officials from Rokiškis and Panevėžys, representatives of the Lithuanian business community etc. The audience unanimously expressed appreciation for the special quality of the show and for the initiative of the Embassy of Romania.
